Anchorage Chapter Scholarships for 2012

The Anchorage Chapter of ASEA is pleased to announce this year’s scholarship program for dependents of chapter members.

The scholarships will be awarded to dependents of members in good standing who have been accepted for admission to an undergraduate degree program at an accredited college, university, or trade school.

The basis of selection is a combination of past academic performance, a 250‑word essay, community service, financial need, and recommendations from instructors, employers, or others.

The selected candidates’ scholarship will be paid to the Director of Admissions/Registrar on your behalf at the chosen school. Representatives Sought for Seasonal, Rural and Judicial Panel Seats

Dear ASEA Members:

The ASEA State Executive Board is soliciting statements of interest from members who wish to be considered to fill the positions on the State Executive Board and SOA GGU Contract Negotiating Committee.

SEASONAL CNC ALTERNATE VACANCY

The Seasonal Alternate vacancy on the State of Alaska GGU Contract Negotiating Committee is being filled in accordance with Article 12.02 E of the ASEA Constitution which states that “an announcement of vacancy will be sent to all member of the affected region, chapter, or class asking for names of members interested in filling the position”. The ASEA State Executive Board will then appoint an alternate from the names submitted.

To be eligible for appointment to the Seasonal Alternate position on the Contract Negotiating Committee, an individual must be a seasonal member in good standing with the Union.

RURAL BOARD REPRESENTATIVE AND CNC VACANCIES

The Rural Representative vacancy on the State Executive Board is being filled in accordance with Article 7.07 of the ASEA Constitution which states that “Vacancies in office shall be filled on a temporary basis by vote of the State Executive Board and the member so elected shall serve …until the next regularly scheduled election.”

To be eligible for appointment to the Rural Representative seat on the State Executive Board, an individual must work in a rural region and must be a member in good standing with the Union for at least one year.

The Rural vacancies on the State of Alaska GGU Contract Negotiating Committee are being filled in accordance with Article 12.02 E of the ASEA Constitution which states that “an announcement of vacancy will be sent to all member of the affected region, chapter, or class asking for names of members interested in filling the position”. The ASEA State Executive Board will then elect a negotiator and alternate from the names submitted.

To be eligible for appointment to the Rural positions on the Contract Negotiating Committee, an individual must work in a rural region and must be a member in good standing with the Union.

JUDICIAL PANEL VACANCIES

The ASEA State Executive Board is soliciting statements of interest from members who wish to be considered to fill vacant seats on the ASEA Judicial Panel as follows: Member and Alternate for the Northern (Fairbanks), Central (Anchorage) and Rural/Bush regions, and an Alternate for the Southeast region.

Interested members must work in the region they represent and must be a member in good standing. Eligibility: 11.03 of the ASEA Constitution states that “No salaried employees of the union or any member holding any elective office in the union shall be eligible to serve on the Judicial Panel.” (Exceptions: Steward or Delegate to a Convention)
