Parts of New Contract Implemented by Letter of Agreement Print E-mail

Dear GGU Member,

I recently signed on behalf of the union a Letter of Agreement with the State implementing certain of the non-monetary terms of the 2004-2007 Tentative Agreement effective October 19, 2004.

The LOA clearly identifies those non-monetary articles being implemented at this time.  One of the terms being implemented at this time is the provision in Article 26 that members on the Sick/Annual Leave system may convert to personal leave during November 2004.

The new monetary provisions of articles 19 (Health Insurance), 21 (Wages), 23 (Meal and Relief Periods), 24 (Holidays), and 29 (Safety & Health), will not be implemented until the legislature approves the monetary terms of the agreement in the coming legislative session. It is not possible to accurately predict how early in the session the legislature will address the funding of the monetary terms, however, I am very optimistic that the terms will be approved by the legislature.

In addition the new terms in articles 13 (Contracting Out), 37 (Conclusion of Collective Bargaining), 38 (Savings and Separability), and 42 (Duration of the Agreement) will not be implemented until the agreement is approved by the legislature.

You may review the terms of the Tentative Agreement by going to the union website and clicking on "Union CBA" in the left toolbar.

If you have any questions regarding the new terms of the Tentative Agreement please contact a union steward, business agent, or me for assistance.
