Dear GGU Member:

I have good news regarding the funding of the $58 per member per month increase in the employers health insurance contribution retroactive to July 1, 2004.

The State Senate today, Tuesday, March 8, passed SB 98 the appropriation bill that contains the appropriation to fund the employer’s increase in the health insurance contribution.

SB 98 has been transmitted to the House for their consideration. The House Finance Committee has scheduled SB 98 for a hearing on Wednesday, March 9. I do not expect any difficulty in the House Finance Committee. While I cannot predict with any certainty when the House of Representative might vote on the legislation I am optimistic that our monetary terms will receive legislative approval before the end of March.

I will keep you informed on the progress of SB 98.
