ASEA Women’s Issues Committee May 27, 2004 Participants: Hettie Hume, Chair, Susan Killary, Barbara Brandt, Nadine Lefebvre Committee vacancies, 1 in Juneau and 2 in Anchorage Next statewide executive board meeting September 2004 Pink Link will come up with first survey, we need more survey recommendations Review of WIC’s first training session provided by AFSCME International Advance Public Speaking Training May 21 & 22, 2004, trainers enjoyed their time with us and their time in Alaska, and we must send thank you notes and small gifts to them We should make plans for future training Committee participation is important; we respectfully requested Gloria’s resignation due to non participation We discussed our by laws and mission statement which do exist The committee must make strong contingencies for future events especially regarding training sessions Jade Bickmore, Juneau, wants to serve on this committee she should email President Glaser and use the web site to contact Jim Duncan and make her interest known Promotional Items, discussion of ideas, costs, distribution such as wearable items, useful items, we must collect ideas and manufacturers-Nadine suggested lapel pins which signify ASEA as a pink collar union:1) the pin could be a shirt collar, colored pink with ASEA/AFSCME Local 52 printed on it, and 2) a larger pin with the pink collar on it and the printing around it. Awareness, we should write an article for each issue of the Solidarity Update Should non committee members participate in the monthly teleconferences?
