The ASEA/AFSCME Local 52 10th Biennial Convention will be held in Anchorage at the Hilton Anchorage Hotel on February 19-22. The convention is the Union’s highest governing body whose authority is ceded to the State Executive Board when it is not in session.
Convention delegates from each of the ASEA chapters meet every two years to “set the laws, rules, policies and goals of the union…” (ASEA/AFSCME Local 52 Constitution, Art. 6.02) ASEA members are welcome to attend the Biennial Convention. Only the 85 members selected to represent their respective chapters will be allowed to vote on convention business. Trainings and committee meetings will take place Thursday and Friday, Feb. 19 and 20. An opening ceremony at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21 will mark the start of two days of business on the convention floor.
