New Appointees
Lin Davis has been appointed.
Face to Face at the Convention
Teresa won't be attending the convention in Anchorage.
Lin is #3 alternate and on the WIC convention committee. Discussed whether we could get her there on 20,000 airline miles.
Jim offered that hotel and per diem can be charged to WIC, but not non-WIC time. Business leave is available for the alternate, but not per diem and hotel for the alternate. Jim is willing to use union airline miles for Lin to fly here.
Nadine will likely be traveling early on Wednesday the 15th, and has training from 6-7 pm. At 8 a.m. on Thursday, meetings begin.
Millie and Dee could leave Bethel on Wednesday the 15th at 8 a.m. Thursday would not be covered for non-alternates.
Millie is 2nd Alternate and is eligible for business leave for the entire convention, but she leaves the next night.
<5:45 pm Gordon leaves>
<5:50 pm Zuzanna arrives>
Zuzanna and 1 Bethel woman could room with Barbara.
1 Bethel woman could room with Nadine.
Toya offered Millie to stay with her on Tuesday night if she comes early.
We are planning for an all day Women's Committee meeting on Wednesday.
Give home emails to Nadine and she will broadcast them to everyone in the committee.
Fundraising at the Convention
Discussed the Anchorage chapter donating $1,000 for the WIC pins presented by Toya at our last meeting.
Discussed silent auction. Nadine is bringing up some jewelry. Some Fairbanks members have donations for the fundraising.
Discussed spending WIC money; it has to go through Jim; it cannot be spent and then reimbursed.
Barbara suggested that Jim broadcast a message to members to bring items to the union hall for WIC fundraising donations for fundraising. He agreed to send a message to Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, and Bethel.
Nadine suggested we have a hospitality room, a silent auction, and show a video. What time would we have the room? Not sure what'll work.
Survey #2
Jim will email all members to let them know it's online.
It will run 3 weeks and end on the 14th of March.
Reber will be in Anchorage on the 15th and can give survey results immediately.
Reber says the email address is used to validate survey participation. Some people won't give their address and it won't be validated. We can see the survey through the link that Nadine already sent us.
Solidarity Update
Zuzanna asked for article from Barbara.
New Business
Teresa suggests we each do a quilt square for a future fundraiser.
Jim was unsure if our committee could get the proper permit for fundraising, and he thinks only the union can get the permit.
Toya summarized: She will go to the Anchorage chapter asking for auction items, asking for $1,000, and putting the word out for the online survey.
