Accepted

Anchorage Constituent Concerns:  Laura
Laura explained the current status of the member who requests privacy to use a breast pump.  It was discussed and suggested that the constituent put her request to her supervisor in writing and verify the response in writing.  It was also suggested she contact Doug Carson.  Gordon offered to be a contact for her since she has no steward.

Juneau Constituent Concerns:  Nadine
Someone had no union dues ever taken out and then she got hit with a bill all at once.  It was offered that Juneau is using old forms.  Toya had heard of it happening to a member in Anchorage.  It was offered that Adrian at headquarters is making payment plans for these situations.  Call her and make payment arrangements.

Juneau Child Care Issues:
No contact in Juneau for meeting.  Nadine talked to AEYC.

AFSCME Western Regional Women's Conference:
The chapter president lobbied the board.  Pennelope was chosen by her chapter to go.  At least 10 people in Anchorage wanted to go.  All those attending from AK will meet Thursday at 8:30 or 9:00 p.m.  Nadine offers to write a letter to the Solidarity Update.  We need to think about the future.  Let's keep a list of annual training and calendar it.  We also need to be drafting resolutions.

Candidates for Biennial Convention March 2006:
Nadine, Toya, Laura, Gordon, and Teresa
Gordon suggests progressive women be put forth as candidates.

Survey #2:
We'll discuss this in our meeting in San Jose.  Nadine requested that Barbara send a final version of the survey to Laura.

Solidarity Update:
Thank you, Toya.  Nadine will do the next one.

New Business
Barbara has two items:
1.          Overview of our finances.  They haven't deducted travel for the conference.  We spent $142.72.  We have $3,857.28 in our account currently.  We received $1,000 from a chapter.  No money from Anchorage yet - Toya offers that they earmarked $1,000 and it will go for Pennelope's travel to AFSCME Western Regional Women's Conference.

Q:      Will we have a face-to-face before the convention?  When is the resolution cut-off?
A:          Gordon offers meeting the day before so we can save on transportation costs.  We need to find out the resolution cut-off date, then look at travel expenses.  We want to speak in solidarity and our resolutions need to be strong.

2.       ASEA webpage.  The policies and procedures are open for member comment.  She is absolutely opposed to them.  Take a look at them.  The cut-off for member comments is October 28th.  Committee members, please go to the website and review these.  Contact State Rep Wyatt Wheeler with our comments.

Next teleconference:  November 30
Barbara will be unavailable December 23 through Jan 13.
We need to think about a different date for December.
