Dear GGU Member,
The Employee Free Choice Act is currently being considered by the United States Senate. The Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) will ensure workers’ freedom to bargain for better wages, benefits and working conditions. Passage of EFCA is very important and a top priority of AFSCME International.
The House of Representatives overwhelmingly supported EFCA by a vote of 241 to 185. Now, the focus is on the Senate, and we need your help to ensure the success of a true worker-friendly piece of legislation.
AFSCME International has committed to waging an aggressive grassroots lobbying campaign for seven targeted Senators in six states which includes both Sen. Lisa Murkowski and Ted Stevens of Alaska.
Your U.S. Senators, Lisa Murkowski and Ted Stevens, need to hear from ASEA members urging them to support the Employee Free Choice Act.
All members are encouraged to participate in the nation-wide campaign to pass this legislation.
If you have not received a postcard pamphlet, you can obtain one by contacting a chapter president or union office. Additionally, I encourage every member to take part in one of the online labor campaigns that can be found at the following links:
