Strike Authorization Ballots Mailed Print E-mail
 Important Bargaining Information!

May 20, 2004

Dear GGU Member:

Today your union mailed Strike Authorization ballots to each member of the bargaining unit.

The Strike Authorization Vote is the single greatest tool for members to demonstrate support for a fair contract.

A successful Strike Authorization Vote improves our bargaining leverage for a fair contract by illustrating that members are informed and concerned about current proposals offered by the state.

When you receive your ballot, please consider the value of your vote and take the time to return your ballot by mail. A successful Strike Authorization Vote requires a YES vote of 50% plus 1 of the entire membership. An unused ballot is the same as a voting against strike authorization.

Most of you will receive your ballot in coming week. If you do not receive a ballot, contact ASEA Headquarters in Anchorage to request a replacement ballot. Call Skye McRoberts at (907) 277-5200 or (800) 478-2732 toll free to request your replacement ballot.

Ballots must be returned by June 21 to be counted. I encourage all members to participate in the Strike Authorization Vote. A fair contract depends upon it.

Sincerely,

Jim Duncan
