Dear Chapter Presidents, Chief Stewards, and GGU Stewards,

The ASEA State Executive Board at their meeting on September 8, 2016 adopted a motion to suspend the provision of ASEA Policy and Procedure 9.05.000 D regarding steward’s term of office until June 30, 2017.

Suspension of this provision means that the term of a steward does not terminate on September 30, 2016 which is three months after the expiration of our previous Collective Bargaining Agreement. Current stewards will continue in office. Therefore, there is no need for Chapters to conduct an election for current stewards to continue in their position.

The ASEA Executive Board is conducting a review of the ASEA Policy and Procedures. During that review this issue will be considered by the ASEA Executive Board and they will determine prior to June 30, 2017 how to proceed. Any proposed amendment to this P&P will be noticed for member comment as required.
