Dear ASEA Stewards:

The Spring 2015 Steward training will be held in Anchorage, Fairbanks and Juneau from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the following dates and locations:

April 8th – Basic Training (New Stewards Only)
April 9th – Advanced Training for continuing stewards who have attended Basic training. *For Spring 2015 Training only, New Stewards who attend Basic Training on April 8th are invited to attend Advanced Training on April 9th.*

Anchorage: Basic and Advanced training will be held at the ASEA Union Headquarters, 2601 Denali St.
Fairbanks: Basic and Advanced training will be held at the ASEA Field Office, 542 4th Ave., Suite 226
Juneau: Basic – ASEA Field Office, 318 Fourth St. / Advanced – Elizabeth Peratrovich Hall, 320 W. Willoughby Ave.

TRAINING IS MANDATORY. IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND YOU MUST OBTAIN AN EXCUSED ABSENCE:

[ASEA Policy 9.03.B: Only the Executive Director may excuse an absence. Two (2) consecutive unexcused absences from either a basic or advanced training opportunity following election or appointment shall result in decertification of a steward.]

GGU STEWARD RELEASE TIME — CBA Article 2.02.B.
>Continuing Stewards: Union Stewards who were stewards in Year 1 shall be allowed up to four (4) hours for continued steward training.
>New Stewards: Union Stewards who are newly elected in Year 2 (on or after July 1, 2014) shall be allowed up to fifteen (15) hours in the first contract year of their election for steward training.

REQUEST FOR ABSENCE MEMORANDUM

Joyce Winton will send a Request for Approved Absence from Worksite Memo to stewards with the information on how to complete a Steward Release Notification form and/or SOA Leave Request/Report.

You MUST RSVP at the location listed below after your release time and/or leave request is approved by your supervisor. Please RSVP by COB on Friday, March 20th.

AFTER we have received your RSVP, Melanie Harris will contact you regarding any travel or lodging needed. Please request enough additional leave to cover travel time to/from your assigned urban training location.
