What it Says:
"An Act relating to payment of health benefit premiums for a surviving spouse and dependent child of certain peace officers and firefighters who die in the line of duty; and providing for an effective date."
What it Does:
HB 5 establishes a line-of-duty-death survivor health benefit account administered by the Dept. of Public Safety with funds appropriated by the Legislature and donations to make health insurance payments to a union health trust on behalf of eligible survivors. Terms for municipal opt-in are included.
