ASEA Advanced Steward Training

Hello ASEA Stewards,

Thank you for your time and dedication as an ASEA steward, we are looking forward to your attendance at the upcoming Advanced Steward Training on April 30 from 8:30am to 4:30pm in each of the three regional offices. Steward training is mandatory for all continuing stewards.

In preparation for the training, please review the attachments and follow the steps below. The first action is to request the time off to attend the training. Second, if you are a steward traveling to Juneau, Anchorage, or Fairbanks, please submit (after receiving approval from your supervisor) the ASEA Traveler Profile as soon as possible (April 10th was the deadline for submission).

Please follow these steps:

  1. See the Steward Leave Calculator to estimate how much ASEA Business Leave and SOA Steward Release Time you are entitled to use for this training.
  2. Request the time off to attend the training by filling out the SOA Steward Release Notification form and submitting it to your supervisor for signature along with the attached ASEA Request for Absence memo and a State of Alaska leave slip indicating hours of ASEA Business Leave needed.
  3. Stop here until you have received approval from your supervisor.
  4. After receiving approval from your supervisor, please submit a copy of the steward release and/or leave slip to Cindy Beans at CindyB@afscmelocal52.org.
  5. Applicable to stewards traveling to one of the regional offices: Submit the Traveler Profile form to ASEA HQ at aseahq@afscmelocal52.org. (Anchorage Chapter stewards and other stewards without travel needs should skip this step.)

*IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND TRAINING, YOU MUST OBTAIN AN EXCUSED ABSENCE: Suzan Hartlieb, ASEA Business Agent, has been designated as the point of contact to request an excused absence from steward training. You MUST submit a written statement (email) to aseahq@afscmelocal52.org or Suzan@afscmelocal52.org with the reason you are unable to attend Steward training.
