We’re excited to announce that ASEA and AFSCME are offering free Health & Safety trainings and workshop sessions from May 11 through May 13.

Schedule & Description

Monday, May 11:

  1. OSHA 101
    Register:       8:30 AM— 10:30 AM
    This course will equip you with the foundational information about the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and workplace safety.
  2. Writing OSHA Complaints
    Register:        10:45 AM— 12:45 PM
    Participants will be provided the knowledge and confidence to prepare clear, accurate, and effective OSHA complaints – a skill we hope you never need to utilize.
  3. Supporting Health by Managing Stress
    Register:        1:45 PM— 2:45 PM
    Learn about stress reduction techniques and self-care plans that can be practiced throughout the workday, including breathing, grounding, and stretching exercises, promoting greater health.
  4. Active Violence Immediate Response Training (AVIRT- Certified)
    Register:        3:00 PM— 6:00 PM
    Over the past 15 years, incidents of workplace violence have been on the rise. Frontline workers, in particular, face unique risks and challenges as they provide vital public services. This course will teach participants how to recognize warning signs, respond quickly during an active shooter situation, and control bleeding in life-threatening situations. *Limited to 15 participants
