DESCRIPTION & SCHEDULE
ACTIVE VIOLENCE IMMEDIATE RESPONSE TRAINING (AVIRT)
Over the past 15 years, incidents of workplace violence have been on the rise. Frontline workers, in particular, face unique risks and challenges as they provide vital public services. This course will teach participants how to recognize warning signs, respond quickly during an active shooter situation, and control bleeding in life-threatening situations.

WORKPLACE VIOLENCE PREVENTION
Participants will learn to identify different types of workplace violence, risk factors that may increase a worker’s risk for violence, communication skills to prevent and manage workplace violence, and what a workplace violence program should include.

OSHA 101
This course will equip you with the foundational information about the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and workplace safety.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

HEALTH & SAFETY COMMITTEE
Participants will learn the benefits of utilizing a health and safety committee, such as how the committee can be used to improve workplace safety conditions, policies, practices, procedures, and training. Participants will learn best practices in developing or running the committee and some pitfalls to avoid.

JOB HAZARD ANALYSIS
Participants will learn how to complete a Job Hazard Analysis (JHA). A JHA is a tool that can be used to identify actual/potential hazards associated with a task, so controls to eliminate or reduce those hazards can be identified and implemented.

SUPPORTING HEALTH BY MANAGING STRESS
Learn about stress reduction techniques and self-care plans that can be practiced throughout the workday, including breathing, grounding, and stretching exercises, promoting greater health.

RESPONDING TO ESSENTIAL WORKPLACE HAZARDS
Learn about common occupational hazards for indoor workers, including infection control and indoor air quality, ergonomics, noise and tinnitus, and pest control.
