AFSCME INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION DELEGATE NOTICE OF NOMINATIONS
AFSCME’S 47th INTERNATIONAL BIENNIAL CONVENTION
August 17, 2026, through August 21, 2026, in Chicago, IL

ASEA/AFSCME Local 52 members are hereby notified that nominations are now being accepted for delegate positions for AFSCME’s 47th Biennial International Convention hosted in Chicago, IL.

GENERAL INFORMATION REGARDING THE ELECTION
Article 14 of the ASEA/AFSCME Local 52 Constitution and Policy 22.00.000 of the ASEA/AFSCME Local 52 Policies and Procedures (P&Ps) spell out the details of the election process. These documents are available on the ASEA website at www.afscmelocal52.org or through each of the ASEA/AFSCME Local 52 business offices.

  1. All nominations must be made using the ASEA/AFSCME Local 52 Nomination Petition.
  2. To be eligible for election to the position of delegate, a candidate must be a member in good standing of ASEA since May 1, 2025 (Article IV, Section 12 of the AFSCME International Constitution and Appendix A of the ASEA/AFSCME Local 52 Constitution).
  3. Nominating petitions may be emailed, mailed, faxed to Union Headquarters, or hand-delivered to Union Headquarters or any Union Field Office. ALL NOMINATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED IN ASEA HQ NO LATER THAN 12:00 pm (Noon) on May 7, 2026. (See address, email, and fax number on back page.) Please email elections@asea52.org to verify that your nomination petition has been received.
  4. Candidate’s names will become public information only after official certification by the ASEA Election Committee.
  5. ASEA/AFSCME Local 52 is allocated Convention Delegates based on the formula in the AFSCME Constitution Article IV, Section 5 and 6. ASEA was allocated a total of ten (10) delegate positions in the previous Convention. The official delegate allocation will be released 75 days prior to the start of the Convention, June 3, 2026.
  6. Convention Delegates Position #1, #3, and #5 will be occupied by the President, Secretary, and Treasurer of ASEA. (ASEA Constitution Article 14.01) The AFSCME Convention Delegate candidate who receives the highest number of votes will be the Convention Delegate #2 position. The candidate who receives the second-highest number of votes will be the Convention Delegate #4 position. The candidate who receives the third-highest vote will be the Convention Delegate #6 position, and the remaining candidates in descending order of votes will occupy the remaining delegate positions.

SCHEDULE FOR the AFSCME CONVENTION DELEGATE ELECTION ‐ CRITICAL DATES

  • April 22, 2026 ‐ Notice of Nominations mailed to all members in good standing.
  • May 7, 2026, at 12:00 pm (Noon) ‐ Deadline for receipt of nomination petition forms, candidate statements, and paper ballot requests.
  • May 26, 2026 ‐ Ballots distributed to members.
  • June 16, 2026 ‐ This is the “Election Date” (ballots counted)
    Ballots MUST BE RECEIVED NO LATER THAN 8:30 a.m. on this date.
    Only electronic ballots cast through the online election platform or returned through the U.S. Mail and received in the U.S. Post Office Box will be counted.
