Dear GGU Member,

As you are aware the Alaska Legislature hasn’t yet passed a fully funded budget although we remain hopeful that they will pass a budget in the next few days and avoid any partial shutdown of government on July 1.

We do want to make you aware that the State has informed us that if layoff letters are necessary they will be sent this coming Monday, June 1 and will state that the layoff date is July 2. That means employees will be in pay status on July 1 and will be eligible for health insurance for the month of July. Of course, employees will be expected to work a full day on July 1.

We know this is very unsettling time for all of you and will keep you updated as the situation evolves.
