Alaska AFL-CIO Convention

Date
Aug. 27, 2020 - Aug. 28, 2020

Description

What is the AK AFL-CIO Convention?

Every two years, the Alaska AFL-CIO holds a convention to make decisions and democratically elect AFL-CIO officers for the next two years. Delegates representing working people from across Alaska and from various job categories will come together to choose their leaders and express their policy preferences. The delegates at the AK AFL-CIO convention adopt resolutions that guide the labor movement and improve the lives of working people throughout Alaska. Openness, transparency and democracy are key components of the convention.

This year, the 2020 AK AFL-CIO Convention will be held virtually via Zoom. ASEA currently has 12 delegate seats available to be filled by interested members in good standing.

Convention dates are as follows: Workshops – August 26th and the Business Session of the Convention will be August 27-28th.  Business leave will be provided (Union paid leave time).

This is a great way to get involved with your union and learn and vote on the goals our AK AFL-CIO are focusing on over the next couple years.

If you are interested in becoming a delegate to the Convention please contact your chapter president by Friday, August 7th
